On the road with Stumptown

This is a great and simple AeroPress recipe from Stumptown Coffee Roasters for use when you're on the road - camping, hiking, or anytime you don't have the facility of a home kitchen nearby.

Give it a try!

This AeroPress recipe employs the use of a hand grinder, but if you don't have one it's not too big of a sin to grind your beans before you leave home if you're not going to be away too long :)

Recipe details:

Standard
1:45
Paper Filter

Coffee:

17g
Medium - Fine
Something from Stumptown!

Water:

96°C / 204°F
220mL
  1. Load up and grind 17gm of coffee, medium-fine in your hand grinder. If you don't have a scale, 17gm should be just above the lip of your AeroPress scoop
  2. Preheat and pre-wet your paper filter and the AeroPress chamber
  3. Place the AeroPress on top of your mug in the standard (upright) position. Add your coffee.
  4. Start your timer and fill the AeroPress to #4 on the chamber (220gm if you have a scale) within 10seconds. Rotate the AeroPress a little as you pour the water to make sure all the ground coffee is saturated
  5. Once the water reaches level 4, give it a good stir.
  6. Place the plunger to the top, pull up a little to create a seal and stop the coffee from filtering through
  7. At 1:15 remove the plunger and give the AeroPress another stir
  8. Place the plunger back on and start slowly pressing! Once you hear the hiss, your brew is complete.
  9. Total time should be 1:45 - 1:55
  10. Enjoy!
